December 23, 2014
As the year 2014 comes to a close, we reflect on all that has transpired over the past 12 months for the Shreveport Fire Department K9 Search and Rescue Task Force. Here are some of the accomplishments from the past year:
- Trained/instructed 60 plus students in our annual seminar in Scottsville, Texas
- Received two new canine partners: Trace (HRD) and Scout (Air Scenting), while retiring two canines
- Assisted the community by participating in 29 missions for missing persons
- Compiled over 1,300 training hours for our canines and handlers
- Held our annual Benefit Horse Show at Holly Hill Farm in August
- Acquired a new HRD canine (Blaze) and began her training
- Created a new Facebook page
The above accomplishments could not have been made without the support of the Shreveport Fire Department and the community we serve. As we look forward to a new year in 2015 our team is poised for even greater things.
- We will welcome into service Blaze, our new HRD canine
- Project Lifesaver will officially get off the ground after clearing the proper legal channels
- We will train handlers and canines from all over the USA in our March training seminar
- We will construct a world-class canine agility course at our training academy
We hope you will journey with us in 2015 to aid in our service to the citizens of our great area and seek to get the above goals completed. If you would like to donate to our team please visit the Donations tab at the top of our site. The Shreveport Fire Department K9 Search and Rescue Task Force hopes you have a safe and prosperous new year!
