Mid-Year Update

July 21, 2015

We blinked and the year 2015 is already halfway over. I suppose we need to stop having so much fun and time will slow down. The Shreveport Fire Department’s Canine Search and Rescue Task Force certainly has not slowed down this year. Our human handlers and canine partners have had their plates full.

We wish to take a short break from all the action to give you a mid-year update about our team. So far this year our team has:

  • Completed over 20 missions and searches for lost persons (most recently in the Sabine River near Lake Charles, La.)
  • Attended several dozen community meet-and-greets including the Barksdale Air Force Base Defenders of Liberty Air Show and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Safety Town CSI Youth Camps
  • Completed our annual training seminar in Scottsville, Tx.

In the second half of 2015 we still have an ambitious agenda. We wish to:

  • Redesign and completely rebuild our canine agility course
  • Review and revise our team Standard Operating Procedures
  • Create our very first five-year strategic plan
  • Put on our biggest fundraiser of the year; The Annual Benefit Horse Show.
  • Answer the call to bring the lost home!

We hope you will continue on this journey with us. Please feel free to Like us on Facebook and peruse our website. If you would like to donate to our cause you may do so securely through our website. We hope the rest of 2015 is full and beneficial for you and yours.
